{"id":630,"date":"2022-12-08T11:16:17","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T17:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/behavioralplasticity.org\/?page_id=630"},"modified":"2022-12-08T11:16:17","modified_gmt":"2022-12-08T17:16:17","slug":"bpri-code-of-ethics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/behavioralplasticity.org\/index.php\/bpri-code-of-ethics\/","title":{"rendered":"BPRI Code of Ethics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Behavioral Plasticity Research Institute (BPRI)\u00a0aims to be a research institute that conducts and communicates research\u00a0in accordance with the highest scientific, professional, and ethical standards and in a manner that fosters mutual respect\u00a0and\u00a0enhances the reputation of\u00a0all of its members\u00a0and trainees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a member of the\u00a0BPRI, I subscribe to the following principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When performing research activities, I shall:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conduct, manage, judge, and report scientific research objectively, honestly, and thoroughly.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be honest and realistic in stating claims or estimates based on available data and understand the limitations of my knowledge.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use appropriate diligence in preserving and maintaining documentation, such as original data records, so that others may reproduce results.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acknowledge all conflicts of interest and not knowingly engage in activities where a conflict of interest impedes my ability to act in an objective, honest, and ethical manner.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize past and present contributors to my research and not accept or assume credit for another&#8217;s accomplishments.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Properly reference and acknowledge past work and accomplishments of my colleagues and others in the scientific community.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take responsibility for safety and the impacts of my research on the environment and human and animal subjects.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When communicating research, I shall:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Claim authorship in a work only if I have made a significant intellectual contribution as part of conception, design, data collection, data analysis, or interpretation and made significant contributions to the scientific communication&#8217;s preparation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Claim authorship only if I am willing to be held responsible for the validity and interpretation of data from my contributions and for the conclusions as presented.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that co-authors on publications have the opportunity to review and comment on the scientific communications prior to their release.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accurately describe research methodology and data processing in all research products, including clear traceability of all figures and images to original data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When dealing with others, I shall:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be honest,&nbsp;professional, and respectful&nbsp;in my interactions with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors, sponsors, reviewers, editors, and the public.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support diversity by&nbsp;providing an environment in which the\u202fideas of all are evaluated equally, regardless of individual characteristics, on the basis of evidence.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be inclusive&nbsp;by creating a\u202fculture of openness,&nbsp;recognizing and\u202faddressing unconscious bias, and&nbsp;not tolerating&nbsp;any forms of discrimination, harassment,&nbsp;and exclusionary behavior.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resolve disagreements and differing views constructively&nbsp;and&nbsp;respectfully.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Welcome constructive criticism of my personal scientific research and offer the same to my colleagues in a manner that fosters mutual respect and objective scientific debate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Behavioral Plasticity Research Institute (BPRI)\u00a0aims to be a research institute that conducts and communicates research\u00a0in accordance with the highest scientific, professional, and ethical standards and in a manner that fosters mutual respect\u00a0and\u00a0enhances the reputation of\u00a0all of its members\u00a0and trainees.
